Brief history

SandVault is a group of engineers, technologists and marketers assembled to create innovative products solving problems in the areas of control, metering and payment for self serve access to community or shared resources.  The company draws strength from a heritage exceeding a quarter century in development of innovative, leading edge products. 

 The SandVault team takes pride in offering products with minimal or net positive environmental impact.  Our products are ultra low power and generally are battery powered with solar recharge.  In the payment space we work with credit cards, private account cards and stored value smart cards.  We support magnetic stripe, contact chip, contactless chip, RFID and stored value purse card technologies.

 CycleStation^TM, our flagship product, draws on the above technologies and incorporates our spirit of innovation and environmental sensitivity.
CycleStation was the first automated public bikeshare system installed in the Americas. CycleStation was the first solar powered bikeshare system installed ever, anywhere.

CycleStation was the first bikeshare system ever to use cellular M2M communications.  CycleStation is simply the worlds most flexible and adaptable full featured control system for operation of public bike share.  Recent installations have included Golden BC ( perhaps the worlds smallest automated bikeshare system ) and the Miami Beach  ‘Decobike’ system.  Decobike, with 1000 bikes at 100 stations, may be the worlds most commercially successful bikeshare ever installed. 

SandVault applies the same principles to other products and projects.  Our WaterStation^TM product for applications such as us municipal ‘Ranchwater’ systems offers stored value or account card payment for any size self serve bulk water station.  Our SmartKit^TM card payment modules, used typically in parking and similar OEM applications, again feature low power operation allowing the host machines to run from solar power.  A recent installation included 5000 units in a large US city.
